Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 June 2026
Cook Mark ("we", "us") is a personal recipe manager. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we use email. We collect as little as possible and never sell your data.
What we collect
- Account details — your name and email address.
- Authentication data — a securely hashed password and/or passkey credentials. We never store plaintext passwords.
- Your content — the recipes you import (titles, ingredients, steps, notes, and the source URLs).
- Operational logs — minimal technical logs needed to run and secure the service.
How we use it
- To provide the service: storing, searching, and organizing your recipes.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To send the transactional email described below.
Your recipes are scoped to your account. We do not use your content for advertising.
We send transactional email only. The only messages we send are ones you initiate:
- Email verification — a one-time link to confirm your address when you sign up or change it.
- Password reset — a one-time link, sent only when you request it.
We do not send newsletters, promotions, or marketing of any kind, and we do not use purchased or third-party mailing lists. Because every message is a direct, user-requested response to an account action, there is no marketing list to unsubscribe from. We process bounce and complaint notifications and suppress addresses that hard-bounce or mark our mail as spam, so we stop sending to them.
Where your data lives
Cook Mark runs on Amazon Web Services. Data is stored in managed AWS services and protected in transit with TLS. Transactional email is delivered via Amazon Simple Email Service (SES).
Your choices
- You can access and edit your account details and recipes from within the app.
- You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
